For those who are transgender, nonbinary, genderqueer; for those starting to question the gender you were assigned at birth, or are at any other place on your gender journey…

Wherever you are in your gender exploration process or transition, we are here to support you on your path. Whether you’re hoping to develop insight into who you are and how you want to identify, seeking assistance in the transition process and exploring how you want to present, or in need of support as you come out to your friends and family, therapy can help provide a safe and supportive environment for navigating these often challenging processes.  We believe that all forms of gender expression are valid, and it is society that creates unnecessary barriers to being who we are.

In addition to providing counseling, we offer letters and any additional paperwork required for some gender-affirming medical care, such as hormones and surgeries.

We are all assigned a gender at birth. Sometimes that assignment doesn’t match our inner truth, and there needs to be a new place - a place for self-identification. I was not born a boy, I was assigned a boy at birth. Understanding the difference between the two is crucial to our culture and society moving forward in the way we treat, and talk about, transgender individuals.

Partners and Family

When a partner, child, parent, or sibling comes out as transgender or non-binary, it can often feel sudden to the rest of the family, and a complex set of emotions may arise as a result. It is not uncommon to experience a kind of grieving process, and even anger and confusion, as your loved one moves forward in their transition process. Because of this, it can be helpful to seek your own supportive counseling so that you have space to process your own concerns, fears, and feelings about their transition and changes in your relationship to them. This allows you to better care for yourself, as well as to be a source of support for your loved one.

Sexuality and partnerships

Coming out as any sexuality other than Straight can open the door to a host of responses and challenges from family and our community. It is my mission to help you navigate this process, as well as explore ways in which your desires and relationship formations have been informed by expectations and moral judgments. In counseling, we’ll explore your own authentic inner voices, and create ways of coping and moving forward toward the kind of relationship you want and need, including connecting to a broader community of support and affirmation.

We believe that sexuality is a spectrum, and affirm and celebrate all sexual identities, desires, and behaviors, including lesbian/gay, bisexual/pansexual, queer, asexual/aromantic, and non-monogamous/polyamorous relationship formations.
