Pronouns: she/they
psychotherapist, yoga instructor, dendrophile
I am truly fascinated by the layers of human experience, perceptions and relationships, the connection between body and mind, our relationship to nature and our environment, and the power and place of compassion in healing and self-growth.
As a psychotherapist, it is my intention to meet each individual with non-judgemental care and support to cultivate resilience. With a background in yoga, dance and body-centered therapy, I am especially passionate about working somatically with clients through body awareness and breath practices in addition to traditional talk therapy. I believe that our bodies are wise and deeply informative and that cultivating an integrated relationship between the body and mind is vital to healing, and growing as a human.
I view therapy as a collaborative process and take great honor in walking with and gently guiding folx as they access their own inner capacity to heal and grow. I tend to bring a blend of gentle, supportive, challenging and humorous (when appropriate) qualities to the therapeutic relationship. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and social justice oriented. I specialize in working with adults ages 18+ and have experience in assisting folx navigating anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, life transitions, relationship challenges, gender and sexuality exploration, grief and loss, eating and body-image concerns, depression and more. My approach is integrative, including the use of trauma-informed, person-centered, mindfulness-based, feminist/multicultural, expressive arts, Acceptance and Commitment, and Internal Family Systems Parts Work therapy interventions.
I graduated from Appalachian State University with a BA in both Studio Art and Dance Studies and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus in Body-Centered Therapy and post-graduate certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy. In 2017, I served as a clinical intern at Daymark Recovery Services where I worked with both the Psychosocial Rehabilitation and the Assertive Community Treatment teams. Additionally I have experience in higher education, yoga instruction, artistic facilitation, and gardening/farming.
When not in the office, I enjoy going on adventures or cooking meals with my partner, snuggling with my beloved lady cat named Grampa, eating, laughing or playing games with friends/family, reading, spending time among trees, making things with my hands, or tending to my house plants and garden.
